(I wish I could take credit for this great picture but it is not mine. This is the work of my friend Karsten from Germany. I miss you!)
Today, for some reason, more than ever I am a dreamer. For the first time in probably at least two months, we made it to church and our 9am bible study. But on the way there, half asleep, I found myself staring aimlessly at each subdivision entrance sign that lined our 45 mile path to church. I thought, which one would I want to call home and how in the world am I going to make that happen? I know it is in God's hands, but I can't just sit idally by and expect him to just send a tornado Dorothy style and click my heals three times and poof, there it is. I have to come up with a plan and stick to it. And now that I am married, my Husband is part of the plan. Thank God for that because I have a feeling it would take me a lot longer to get to where we want to be without his support. But then I started thinking, am I going to miss this? These days labeled "newly weds with no mortgage and no kids". Am I going to look back and think, man those were the days, I wish we would have stopped to smell the roses more instead of wishing them away. I think we tend to do that in life. We wish away the times that are "simple" (in quotes because lets face it, nothing in life is ever simple) and then when we get what we wish for, and it makes life that much more complicated, we yern for the "good ole' days." But isn't that human nature? I think that somehow that is how God proves to us that there is a heaven because no matter how great things are we yern for something more and we are never quite sure what that something is. Maybe we will all find it behind those pearly gates and there will be this amazing ah ha moment that we finally say, so this is what it all meant and this is what all those sacrifices were for and we will dance like we have never danced and live forever with the knowledge that there is no longer an enemy at our back. What I wouldn't give to know that all of my loved ones would experience that with me. What I wouldn't give to see the light on there face when all of their wildest dreams come true after they have sacrificed for a while and been brought out of darkness. God please make me a light onto their path that they may know you as I do and maybe even teach me something along the way.
